Hon. Dr. Rufus W. Ewing

MBBS; FRCS (Edin); DM (Gen Surg); FACS; MPH.
Consultant General Surgeon

Hon. Dr. Rufus Ewing is the Chairman and Director of Medinco Group, the parent company of Omnicare Medical Center. He is a graduate of the University of the West Indies School of medicine at Mona, Jamaica, where he obtained both his MBBS and Doctor of Medicine in General Surgery degrees in 1993 and 2001 respectively. Hon. Dr. Ewing completed his surgical fellowship at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1998. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons since 2008. Dr. Ewing also holds a Master of Public Health degree from Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health.
 

He is a practicing General Surgeon registered with the Turks and Caicos Islands Medical and Dental Council and also a public health practitioner serving as a PAHO/WHO Advisor for Health Systems and Services. 
 

As a General Surgeon, Hon. Dr. Ewing's main areas of interest are diseases of the breast and colon.

A general surgeon is part of a surgical team that also includes an anesthesiologist, nurses, and surgical technicians. You’ll talk to the surgeon about the procedure prior to surgery.

Our general surgeon is well-trained and works in collaboration with several surgical sub-specialist such as ENT, Orthopaedics, Urologists, and plastic surgeons to provide a comprehensive range of surgical services. We provide evaluation and treatment of but urgent and non-urgent chronic surgical conditions.  Our General Surgeon:

  • Evaluation and management of acute and chronic joint and muscular pains

  • Evaluation and management of lumps and bumps 

  • Evaluation and management of Diseases

  • Minor surgical procedures 

  • Referral or arrangement for major surgical procedures
